Swiss Craftsmanship

Between the ancient Swiss villages of Valangin and Brenets reside perhaps the world’s greatest concentration and historical know-how of craftsmen and artisans dedicated to haut horlogère and joaillerie.  It’s here in this unique region of French speaking Switzerland that Valangin Brenets shaving instruments are brought to life.

Delve into our manufacturing process and the French terminology that defines each stage of the journey.

Usinage

Precision machining, the first and only automated process, employs state-of-the-art, computer controlled tooling to intricately machine, cut, shape, and drill raw surgical steel and 925 silver, forging the essential components of a Valangin Brenets shaving instrument.

Pollisage Main

Skillfully polished by hand, each surgical stainless-steel component undergoes a meticulous multistage process. It commences with a comprehensive cleaning and refining of edges and imperfections. Successive stages employ increasingly finer abrasive compounds, meticulously employed to achieve a smooth texture and brilliant shine.

Guillochage main

Hand guilloche, a testament to craftsmanship, involves a skilled artisan deftly maneuvering a small cutting tool across the silver handle. This intricate technique utilizes a sophisticated system of gears and cams, producing an alluring, symmetrical pattern that captivates the eye.

l’émail grand-feu

Guided by expertise, an accomplished enameler painstakingly applies layers of enamel powder onto the handle's surface. Subsequent high-temperature firing yields a flawlessly glossy finish. The finesse of temperature and timing control is pivotal in obtaining the intended color depth and vibrancy. When paired with guilloche, the result radiates a captivating play of light and dimension.

Gravure manuelle

Skillfully manipulating gravers and burins, a master engraver meticulously sculpts each shaving instrument's top cap by hand. Through technical precision and artistic finesse, the master engraver elevates the top cap into a miniature masterpiece.

Sertissage manuelle

Only the most elite in the realm of master stone-setting comprehend the subtleties of harmonizing noble metals, precious stones, and decorative elements. Beyond mere diamond mounting, the master stone setter must adeptly showcase the inherent beauty of each gemstone.

Écrin sur-mesure

Hand-selecting premium leather is just the beginning of the meticulous process of custom box making. Our artisans then delicately cut and shape each piece to seamlessly marry with the carefully crafted woodwork. The outcome is a bespoke enclosure that not only safeguards your shaving instrument but also embodies timeless elegance and meticulous attention to detail.
